What a 20PerFit EMS workout looks like from start to finish

Most of us live busy lives, making it hard to stay active.

We get it. Between working, socialising and tending to our many personal obligations, it can be tough to find the time to squeeze in a bit of movement.

But it doesn’t have to be so hard.

If you want to stay fit but can’t bear the thought of a long post-work gym session, we’ve got you covered.

What is EMS Training?

EMS is a full body workout that uses a wireless suit to stimulate your muscle fibres whilst you train. This causes them to contract more than they would with regular training, allowing you to get faster results.

And the best part? Even though EMS sessions are 20 minutes long, they deliver the same results as 4 hours of regular training.

Yep, it’s pretty amazing.

We know this all sounds confusing, especially the wireless suit. So, we’ll be unpacking what actually goes down during a 20PerFit EMS workout.

How to prepare for an EMS session

To get the most out of your EMS session, there are a couple of things you need to do before you meet with your trainer.

Firstly, make sure you’ve had plenty to drink. In fact, it’s recommended that you drink at least half a litre of water in the 30 minutes leading up to your session. EMS workouts are intense, so water will keep you hydrated, and it’ll help your muscles recover after you’ve finished training.

It’s also important to eat a carb rich snack before you train, as this will give you the energy to power through your session.

What to expect before your session

Once you meet with your trainer, you’ll dive straight into a consultation where you’ll discuss all of your fitness goals. This will help your trainer devise the perfect workout for you.

After that, you’ll need to fill out a medical questionnaire to ensure that you meet all the medical requirements for EMS training.

Once your health has been cleared, your trainer will tell you everything you need to know about the EMS suit. You’ll then be asked to pop on the suit and carry out a few basic exercises to familiarise yourself with the EMS technology.

After that, you’re ready to jump into your workout session.

A typical EMS session

Now, it’s time for the fun part – the training session.

At the start of your session, your trainer will guide you through a 5 minute warm up.
The EMS technology will be able to tell exactly when you’ve warmed up enough, so once all of your muscles are warm, you’re ready to start your workout.

During the actual workout, your trainer will give you focused exercises to target your desired muscle groups. You’ll be asked to perform ‘normal’ exercises that you probably recognise, such as squats, lunges and wall sits, but you’ll do this wearing the EMS suit. Depending on your fitness goals, your trainer may even alter the strength of the suit’s vibrations to make the workout harder. With one to one coaching on the exercises you’re performing, the accuracy of the movements is guaranteed. This means minimal room for injury and maximum results.

Your trainer will remain with you throughout the duration of your workout to ensure that you’re doing everything correctly, allowing you to get the most out of your results.

What happens after your session?

After your session, you get time to stretch, relax and rehydrate. You can also enjoy a lovely shower at our studio facility, or if you’ve opted in for the mobile service, you can relax from the comfort of your own home.

If you’re new to EMS training, your muscles will likely feel sore in the 48 hours following your session, so make sure to give your body some rest and fuel. It’s recommended that you eat a post-workout diet full of protein, potassium and magnesium, as these foods will aid your recovery.

If you find that you need some extra help after your session, our trainers are only a phone call away. They are there to support you through your EMS journey, so don’t hesitate to reach out to them.
