6 tips to help you get fit with EMS technology
Drink A LOT of water
We’re sure you’re familiar with the concept of staying hydrated during your workout, but did you know that this is even more important when you exercise with EMS technology? An EMS technology workout is intense which is why you see such amazing results however, that also means that you lose a lot of fluid during the workout. If you are not hydrated sufficiently, you will burn out very quickly during your exercise. Additionally, you will have longer recovery time because of the buildup of lactic acid (water helps to flush toxins out of your body) and lack of lubrication in your joints. We recommend that you drink at least half a litre of water before your workout.
Eat carbs before (but not immediately before) your workout
EMS workouts are usually shorter because they are so effective and intense. For this reason, you may think that carb-loading is not necessary as it is usually used for longer intervals of exercise or sport. However, carbohydrates are your body’s primary source of fuel – so don’t skip it! Your body will put forth more effort and you will get better value in your exercise (both in the burning of calories and muscle strengthening). So, even if your workout is in the morning or late at night, have some carbs before your workout.
Eat protein before you go to sleep
Protein is key for rebuilding your muscles after a workout. A protein-rich snack that is slow-digesting and keeps your amino acids and muscle protein synthesis rates elevated throughout the night is key to repairing your muscles. Try eating some plain Greek yoghurt with berries for dessert. This is an easy and yummy way to achieve muscle building, even when you’re sleeping.
Book a session with a physiotherapist!
If you’ve had a nagging pain in your knee, back or any other part of your body that is not debilitating, then visit physiotherapy to sort it out. These lingering pains, while many times not serious, can be the cause for ineffective workouts with less than optimal results. A physiotherapist will be able to help you get pain relief and return to pain-free workouts.
Listen to music
While this tip may be well-known, you’d be surprised at how many people forget to listen to music while working out. However, music has significant physical and psychological effects of exercise. If you’re someone who gets bored, it can easily distract your mind, allowing you to easily complete your session. Additionally, you may fall into the beat of fast-paced music, enabling you to maintain stamina during your workout.
Track your progress
Whatever your end goal is for exercising, ensure that you track your progress. This will serve as a great motivator, especially on days that you may be feeling lethargic. Before and after photos of your body or even graphs tracking your measurements or weight will give you motivation and justification for your EMS technology workout.
We hope that these tips transform the way you work out, whether it be physically or psychologically.
